How We Check Bus Fares
Understand TripNira’s fare research method, source selection, check dates, and the limitations of observed bus prices.
A useful fare comparison needs context. A price without a travel date, departure point, or vehicle class can be misleading. This page sets out the method we use when preparing fare observations for publication.
Start With An Identifiable Source
We prioritise official operator websites, official booking platforms, and operator booking systems. Credible comparison services and other reliable public route information may support a check, with the source identified so readers can assess it.
Record What The Quote Covers
A fare observation should identify the operator, origin, destination, departure terminal where stated, vehicle class, date of travel quoted, price in naira, and any clearly stated charges or conditions. Details that a source does not provide are marked as not stated.
Record The Actual Check Date
The date beside a fare must be the date the source was actually checked. Editing a page, changing its design, or updating its publication date does not count as a new fare check. A source link accompanies published fare observations.
Compare Like With Like
Travel dates, departure terminals, seat or vehicle classes, and booking channels may affect the total. We do not describe a fare as the lowest unless the relevant comparison supports that statement and its scope is clear.
Keep Observations Separate From Live Prices
Published observations are reference information. TripNira does not currently provide live seat availability, reserve seats, issue tickets, or guarantee a fare. Check the final total and conditions directly with the operator before paying.
Handle Missing Or Changing Information
When no checked fare is available, the route page says so. If a source changes or a conflict cannot be resolved, the uncertain detail should be corrected, qualified, or removed while it is investigated.
